The Grace to Grow: Encouragement for New Moms
When I became a mother for the first time, I named my daughter Grace—not fully realizing how fitting that name would become for the journey ahead.
As a mom of four now, I look back and see how much pressure I put on myself—especially in those early days. We live in a world flooded with information: expert advice, parenting books, influencers, reels, podcasts. And while many of these voices are helpful, they often contradict each other, leaving us wondering: Who do I trust? Am I doing this right?
Here’s what I’ve learned: start with prayer. Before diving into another blog post or video, talk to the One who created you—and your child. God is not only the author of life, but the sustainer of your motherhood. He’s ready to give wisdom when you ask.
Talk with your husband, too. You’re in this together, and his voice matters. Seek out wise, trusted moms who walk with humility and experience—not for comparison, but for encouragement. And most importantly, lean into God's Word. It never changes, never contradicts itself, and always leads you toward love, peace, and truth.
God has also given you a beautiful gift: your intuition. That quiet voice within that often reflects His Spirit guiding you in the small, everyday decisions. You might find yourself making choices that look different from the culture—or even from other Christian parents—and that’s okay. Obedience to God doesn’t always follow trends.
One verse that has continually shaped my motherhood is 1 Thessalonians 4:11:
“Make it your ambition to lead a quiet life: You should mind your own business and work with your hands, just as we told you.”
It’s a reminder to be faithful in the small things. To stay rooted in our homes. To live humbly and quietly—not needing to prove anything to anyone, but to serve our families with love, grace, and diligence.
To every new mom reading this: take a deep breath. God’s not asking you to be perfect. He’s inviting you to walk with Him, to grow slowly, and to receive grace upon grace—just like the sweet name of my daughter reminds me every single day.
You’re not alone. And you are deeply, fully loved.
