Let Your Light Shine: Don't Let Opposition Silence You
There was a time when I was all about learning and sharing. I was diving deep into understanding the world, researching so many things, and eager to share every new perspective I gained. I truly believed in open dialogue and spreading what I felt was truth.
But then, the pressure started.
As my convictions grew, so did the pushback. Many people disagreed with what I was sharing, sometimes strongly. The more I received this pushback – the disagreements, the dismissals, the attempts to "fact-check" or even outright censor – the more I felt my light starting to dim. It became harder to share openly the things I genuinely believed were true.
It was frustrating, especially when some of those "controversial" things I shared later turned out to be completely true.
Looking back, I realize I backed down. I held back when I could have continued to share what I understood to be truth with the world. And in that reflection, a powerful realization hit me: this is a tactic of the enemy. The desire to silence truth-tellers, to keep truth hidden, to make us doubt our convictions when faced with opposition – that's a deliberate strategy.
The Bible speaks to this struggle. It warns us about the forces that seek to obscure truth and silence those who stand for it:
Ephesians 6:12: "For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places." This reminds us that the opposition we face can be more than just human disagreement; there are spiritual battles at play.
John 8:44: Jesus himself speaks of the devil, saying, "You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it." This highlights the enemy's fundamental nature as one opposed to truth.
But here's the thing:
- Luke 8:17: "For nothing is secret that will not be revealed, nor anything hidden that will not be known and come to light." If we continue to speak the truth, even the things that are hidden will eventually catch up with the truth we speak.
I am stepping back out. I am choosing to speak the truth, with conviction and with faith.
And if you've ever felt that same pressure, that same dimming of your light, I want to encourage you: step back out. Do not let fear or opposition silence the truth within you. If you've been researching, seeking, and truly believe in what you've found, then share it. The world needs truth-tellers, especially in a time when clarity can feel so scarce.
Remember these powerful words from Jesus, which remind us of the ultimate source of truth and guidance:
John 14:6: "Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.'" This verse anchors us in the ultimate truth found in Christ.
And as we step out, let us do so with courage and confidence, knowing that God is with us:
Proverbs 28:1: "The wicked flee when no one pursues, but the righteous are bold as a lion."
Let's share the truth that sets us free. Let's be bold. Your voice matters. Your light is needed. Let it shine!
